Antisemitic incidents in Australia
the mrc has compiled a list of antisemitic incidents in the wake of the bondi terrorist attacks.
In the 10 years prior to October 2023 the average annual number of anti-Jewish incidents was 342, according to the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ).
In the two years since 7 October 2023, there has been an average of 1,858 incidents per year.
Below is a SAMPLE only of antisemitic incidents that occurred in the past two years before the Bondi Attacks.
TERRORIST INCIDENTS
Incidents orchestrated by the Iranian regime through the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC):
OCT-24: Arson attack on Lewis’s Continental Kitchen in Bondi, a kosher catering business. Three days earlier, the front door of a business with a similar sounding name, Curly Lewis Brewing Company, was set alight in a case of mistaken identity.
DEC-24: Firebombing of Adass Israel Synagogue in Melbourne.
OTHER INCIDENTS IN THE 12 MONTHS TO 30-SEPTEMBER 2025
OCT-2024: Antisemitic graffiti and a threatening note left at Avner’s Bakery, in the Sydney inner city suburb of Surry Hills. The popular bakery is owned by local Jewish TV chef Ed Halmagyi, who has since decided to close his establishment in the wake of the Bondi attacks.
NOV-2024: In Sydney’s Woollahra, which has a large Jewish community, a car was set alight and multiple vehicles and buildings were vandalised with anti-Israel and antisemitic graffiti. The incident caused $100,000 in damage.
JAN-2025: A man allegedly made threatening gun-like gestures towards worshippers near two synagogues in the northwest Sydney suburb of St Ives.
JAN-2025: The Allawah Synagogue in southern Sydney was vandalised with multiple swastikas and other antisemitic graffiti.
JAN-2025: Newtown Synagogue, in Sydney’s inner west, was vandalised with red swastikas and other Nazi‑linked graffiti. An attempt to set the building on fire failed.
JAN-2025: Two cars were set on fire, and four vehicles in total were damaged, while a house was vandalised with red paint in the Sydney suburb of Dover Heights in an antisemitic attack. The property was formerly owned by Alex Ryvchin, the co-CEO of the ECAJ.
JAN-2025: A childcare centre located less than 200m from the Maboubra Synagogue in Sydney’s east was set alight and sprayed with antisemitic graffiti saying “F*** the Jews”.
JAN-2025: In Dural in northwest Sydney, authorities discovered a caravan containing explosives said to be capable of causing a “mass casualty event”. The vehicle also contained documents with antisemitic material. This incident was later revealed to be a fabrication orchestrated by organised criminals, who sought to take advantage of rising antisemitism levels to divert police resources away from their activities.
JAN-2025: Mount Sinai College in Maroubra was vandalised with antisemitic graffiti.
FEB-2025: Two nurses at Bankstown Hospital in Sydney’s west were suspended and deregistered after a TikTok video showed them threatening to kill and refuse care to Jewish or Israel patients.
JUL-2025: Flammable liquid poured on the front door of a synagogue in East Melbourne. Inside were 20 worshippers attending a Shabbat dinner, who evacuated safely. On the same night, protestors in the CBD clashed with patrons inside an Israeli-owned restaurant.

PHYSICAL ASSAULT
Verbal abuse of 16 religious Jewish boys, aged 17 and 18, by several people including a woman in a burqa who threw her ice-cream at them and called them “Baby Killers!”, and a group of about 20 youths who screamed at them “Hitler should have gassed you all” whilst doing the Nazi salute, while walking to the beach, St Kilda Melbourne (3 Oct. 2024 – Rosh Hashanah).
Flaming projectile was thrown from a moving car toward a rabbi pushing a baby in a pram and a young boy riding his scooter, St Kilda East, Melbourne (27 Nov. 2024).
Jewish doctor from Melbourne, with identifiably Jewish surname, checking into hotel, was harassed by female staff member who then grabbed his arm, scratching him and muttered, “You’re a f****** Jew”, Sydney (1 Feb. 2025).
Man pushed a Jewish male off his bike by shoving his shoulder, while yelling "f****** Jews", "Free Palestine" and "You kikes" at the group of Jews near a synagogue, Melbourne (20 March 2025).
Anti-Israel protester threw an item at a Jewish man as he attempted to enter the venue holding a Jewish religious event, while other protesters sought to intimidate him by coming within 15 cm of his face, shouting that he was a “baby killer” and he should be ashamed of himself and that all Zionists are terrorists, Wickham Hotel, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane (31 May 2025).
Two teenage males made multiple threats at knifepoint to a 66-year-old Jewish man about his being Jewish, then physically assaulted him, near the exit door on a train, CBD Sydney (22 Sep. 2025).
VANDALISM
Vandalism with glass window smashed at an Israeli-Jewish owned cafe, Adelaide Street, Fremantle, WA (4 Nov. 2024).
Arson, vandalism and graffiti – one car set alight, causing significant arson damage to a second vehicle parked nearby; graffiti of “Fuk Israel” and “PKK coming” on 10 vehicles and 3 buildings, including a block of units, Woollahra Fire Station & Chiswick restaurant, Woollahra, Sydney (21 Nov. 2024).

ABUSE, HARASSMENT, INTIMIDATION
Occupants of vehicle driving past shouted “Heil Hitler” to people exiting synagogue, Perth (4 Oct. 2024).
Targeting of Professor Steven Prawer, Jewish academic and physics professor, and who wears a kippah, by about 20 anti-Israel protesters, most of whom were masked, some wearing keffiyahs, who broke into and occupied his office, started to damage his personal items and refused to leave for hours, meanwhile Chanted “Stephen Prawer, you can’t hide. You’re guilty of genocide,” did graffiti, put up posters and stickers in his office and refused to leave for hours until the police finally managed to convince them to leave (Prawer leads a joint PhD program between the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Melbourne on how birds navigate), University of Melbourne (9 Oct. 2024).
Person called a 13-year-old Jewish boy a “Jewish c***”, Melbourne (10 Oct. 2024).
An individual walking past the Synagogue, holding a paper bag, looked towards security personnel and said “There is a bomb in here” and left the paper bag outside of a residence adjacent to the Synagogue, Sydney (12 Oct. 2024).
Male shouted “F*** the Jews”, “Jew dogs” and “They kill people” towards people at the front of the Synagogue, Sydney (19 Oct. 2024).
A Jewish resident has had regular disputes with their neighbour who has multiple Nazi tattoos, including a portrait of Hitler, Nazi flags and has said “you belong in the gas chamber” Perth (20 Oct.2024).

Verbal abuse of “I wish Hitler finished you all off” to a Jewish woman during a break after debate on a motion noting an Australian Hezbollah fighter killed by Israel in Lebanon, Bayside Council, Sydney (23 Oct. 2024).
Greens supporter abused Jewish woman accusing her of “killing innocent babies”, polling booth, Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, Queensland (26 Oct. 2024).
Male came into Jewish owned shop told owner to shut it up, and called him a “Arrogant f****** Jew”, Surry Hills, Sydney (1 Nov. 2024).
The occupants of a passing vehicle yelled “Heil Hitler” and performed a Nazi salute towards Jewish School, Sydney (2 Nov. 2024).
Male walking into the front entrance of a Jewish owned business and shouted "Zio" several times towards the identifiably Jewish owner of the business, Caulfield, Melbourne (3 Nov 2024).
Two males yelled “Heil Hitler” at five female Jewish students in Year 11 from a Jewish school, on a tram at Caulfield North, Melbourne (4 Nov. 2024).
The passengers of a passing vehicle shouted “You f****** Jews! We’re going to f*** you up!” towards two identifiably Jewish individuals, Bondi, Sydney (9 Nov. 2024).
Jewish boy, 14-years-old, told to “Go back to the gas chambers, you filthy Jew” after school, Perth (11 Nov. 2024).
Verbal abuse by shopkeeper, holding a shovel, of “I don’t give a f*** about Israel. But I do care about … You’re a dirty filthy f****** Jew. Now f*** off” towards two Israeli Jewish backpackers, at Flinders Tobacco, Townsville, regional Queensland (23 Nov. 2024).
Verbal abuse of Jewish school students by students from a different school "F*** the Jews," "we hate the Jews," "we hate Israel,” at Homebush Aquatic Centre, Sydney (27 Nov. 2024).
Occupant of vehicle shouted "gas the Jews" and "f*** the Jews" towards an identifiably Jewish individual walking north along the road, Doncaster, Melbourne (30 Nov. 2024).
Protest held across road from synagogue, where the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion), celebrating 100 years of its existence, since 1925, with chants of “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” and banner with slogan calling for the eradication of the state of Israel, the Jews were barricaded inside synagogue, and told by police it was not safe to leave, CBD Sydney (4 Dec. 2024).
Three men yelled “f****** Jew” towards an identifiably Jewish individual finishing his run, one of the men then performed a gesture of slitting his throat, Coogee, Sydney (15 Dec. 2024).
Abuse of “Go back to Poland! Go back to Germany!” yelled at Jews watching the protests, by a woman, other abuse of “You f****** scum”, “F****** Pigs”, “You dirty f****** scumbags”, “F****** Zionists, dirty filth!” at anti-Israel protest, Melbourne (12 Jan. 2025).
